Pathfinders Shine Light On Hip Hop with “Moments In Time” CD

CHICAGO, IL – April 14, 2009 – Chicago Hip-Hop group, Pathfinders are blazing a trail with their new CD “Moments In Time” (Pathfinders Music), given 4.7 out of 5 stars on [www.undergroundhiphopsite.com], it is a compilation of musical beats and lyrics that combine classic tunes, with innovative, yet poignant messages.

The Pathfinders are Jameel, Big Will and Terel a.k.a Tall Black Guy. Lovers of hip hop, their paths literally crossed through mutual friends and they soon discovered that they collectively had the same musical spirit. The chemistry was immediately present as Will states, “It felt like I’d known him (Jameel) for years even though it was only hours.” Terel added “I was inspired and felt that I had found my path!” Of their meeting Jameel commented, “I went there not expecting much but was overwhelmed once the first beat dropped.’

Influenced by recording artists before them such as Gang Starr, and Reflection Eternal, they immediately began collaborating on different ideas for beats and rhymes. During one specific building session, the name of the group, Pathfinders was born.

Jameel the father of the groups name explained that “Pathfinders” comes from a military group (paratroopers) that surveyed and secured areas they were dropped in.  Jameel further emphasized the name by noting, “I feel like life is a series of paths, of which, our three paths met at a similar point.  We all share similar interests in music and happened to be living in the same town at least 10 minutes away from each other.”

Since their meeting, the three man group has been hard at work purveying their form of substantive hip hop music.  In less than a year the group has put out a 24-track album titled, “The Foundation Mix Tape,” and now the critically acclaimed CD “Moments In Time.” Pathfinders have recently opened for Nappy Roots, J-Live, Blu & Exile, as well as performed at the African Festival of the Arts with other hip hop acts such as, Naughty by Nature, EPMD, and Kurtis Blow.

Some paths cross, but not all blaze a trail, Pathfinders light the way!
