New Works by Chicago Abstract Artist Rashawn Taylor

CHICAGO, IL – August 23, 2009 – On Saturday August 29, 2009, new works by Chicago Abstract Artist Rashawn Taylor will be unveiled at Big City Swing Studios, located at 1012 W. Randolph, Chicago IL, 60607 from 7pm until Midnight.

In his fourth Chicago show, Rashawn Taylor, a former Color Editor with the Chicago Tribune for over six years, and honored with the paper’s “Achievement Award” in 1999, introduces his exciting new abstract paintings and digital prints.

Rashawn’s current work features his signature layering of textures and meanings – energies, elements and ideas that rise off the canvas and invite you in. The event, hosted by Patricia Billings, will also feature comedian Lady Luncha’bell, and a live performance by Rashawn Taylor who is also an emerging hip hop recording artist to be noted.

Not since Jackson Pollock has an artist emerged with such intense works of abstract art, with Rashawn Taylor, the art literally calls his name. His work focuses strictly on “total” abstract, and includes: digital and mix media fine art.

This incredible artist creates all of his fine art by merely using his bare hands, never using brushes or any other utensil or device; as he feels it gives him better control. As a result, he is able to literally get into his art, and his energy becomes one with the paint.

Born on Chicago’s North side, Rashawn Taylor is the son of Ms. Sylvia Taylor, an Educator with Chicago Public Schools, and Vietnam “point man” Veteran and former Cook County Sheriff, Jimmy Taylor (RIP). Rashawn began his foray into the world of art when he was three years old, influenced by the abstract art impressions his parents displayed all over their home, his urging for creating art would soon come to the fore when his 3rd grade School teacher, Mrs. Williams taught him the rudiments of abstract.
